Our Clinic
We can help any patient of any age
who has or thinks they may have
allergies. We can also provide information and
advice on reducing the chances of a child or unborn
baby of developing allergy.
We aim to provide an efficient and comprehensive
diagnostic and management service. First we will
take a full history of any allergies or possible
allergies, and undertake relevant clinical
examination. If needed, we can carry out breathing
tests and tests for glue ears.
Most patients will require skin prick tests to
substances which might be causing problems. These
tests will allow more information about the
likelihood of possible allergies. Some patients will
be asked to bring samples of, for instance, food
substances which they think may be the cause of
their allergic reactions. All these results will be
available by the end of the consultation. A small
number of people may also require laboratory blood
tests, the results of which will be available one
week after testing.
You will receive a comprehensive written report
which will summarise our consultation, results and
diagnosis, including all the recommendations we
agreed, and any follow-up as needed. You can also
contact the clinic for up to one year after your
last consultation. We will also send a copy of the
report to your general practitioner if you agree.
Should referral to other specialists be recommended,
such as dieticians, skin or eye specialists for
example, this can be arranged privately by the
clinic.
We can also advise about food or other allergen
challenges, should these be necessary. Such
challenges are most safely performed in hospitals,
but we can refer or advise as needed.
WE CAN HELP PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, INCLUDING BABIES,
WHO THINK THEY MAY BE SUFFERING FROM ANY ALLERGIES.
IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA, ECZEMA, HAY FEVER, ITCHY EYES OR
POSSIBLE FOOD ALLERGIES, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.
IF YOU THINK THAT YOUR ALLERGY HAS NOT BEEN
DIAGNOSED, OR NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY TREATED, OR THAT
YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING AT HOME OR AT WORK,
PLEASE DO CALL US.
We recognise that allergy services on the NHS are
not always available. We also appreciate that many
people with asthma, eczema, hay fever, itchy eyes
and food reactions may not have had any
investigations or treatment for possible allergies.
Please call us if you think we can help.
We can also advise parents or prospective parents on
how to minimise allergic risks for their babies and
children. |
